Fender Bender Gets Serious as One Driver Assaults the Other

A minor fender bender accident took an ugly turn Friday morning, as one of the drivers physically assaulted the other.

The incident began when a white Ford Taurus and a white Ford Escort collided on Elder Creek Road between Stockton Boulevard and 65th Street. According to the female victim, the man apparently blamed her for causing the accident. He got out of the Taurus and approached her while she was sitting in her car, then punched her in the nose, breaking it. Following the assault, the man jumped into his car and fled down Elder Creek Road.

Sacramento police say had the assaulted not taken place, the accident would have resulted in no injuries and no charges filed. As it stands now, police are searching for the driver of the Taurus.
